We were assigned to the Krasnodar Region in Russia. Krasnodar was originally named Ekaterinodar after Catherine the great which meant "Catherine's Gift". After the Russian revolution in 1917 the name was changed to Krasnodar which means "beautiful gift". I found this to be a sweet reminder and quite encouraging. Sasha is a beautiful gift that God created in His own image. A child He created knowing that we would be her parents.

Smooth Sailing!

Well, we are counting down the days!  No, not days until we leave for Russia but days until we leave for our CRUISE!!!!  Back in October we were really beginning to feel the strain and frustration of this long adoption process.  Adoption has consumed our life, our decisions and most conversations for almost a year now and yet we are no where near the end of the journey.  It's been a real struggle to find the balance of living life and moving forward when you are waiting helplessly on a child.  We decided that we needed to make some plans.  We needed something else to focus our attention on and to look forward to.  We began contemplating a year end vacation.  It's a good time for us both to be off of work and it's also kind of nice having that time of rejuvenation going into to tax season.  We have always wanted to do a cruise and decided now was as good a time as any to embark on that adventure! So, that's how we will start 2010 off and we are excited for all the changes yet to come as we look ahead!

Wishing everyone a new year filled with many blessings and God sightings.  Don't forget to look at the interuptions in life, too.  I find that's where I see God's blessings the most since those aren't according to my own plans.
